Silicon Valley

Silicon Valley now is the name,
Forty years later it's sure not the same.
A valley of blossoms once was the spring,
Oh, what big changes the future did bring.
The blossoms now few and the chips now are many,
I used to see cherries but now can't find any.
Where is the fruitstand just up the street?
The farmer now gone, he couldn't compete.
Traffic congestion where orchards once stood,
And CEO's hoping that profits are good.
Computers and such, they are the fruit,
Apples now come with disks that you boot.
I am just one of the many that knows,
The valley will change as technology grows.
My house in the valley on unspoiled land,
Ancient Italianate standing so grand,
Has backyard with apple tree blossoming now,
And apples to eat are growing somehow.

Buick Estate Wagon

Buick Estate Wagon now is the name,
Forty years later it still looks the same.
Fabric still covers the seat cushion springs,
An original car with not many dings.
Old wagons now few and the vans now are mini,
I used to need smog stuff but now don't need any.
Will it start up and roll down the street?,
With mini-vans trying in vain to compete?
Built back when cars were built really good,
With a three sixty four packed under the hood.
My stock trade successful to generate loot,
Converted to wagon with horn I can toot.
I am just one of the many that knows,
My boat can be pulled by a wagon that tows.
The Buick in the driveway now looking so grand,
My ancient old wagon now parked on my land.
Has big fins and tailgate still working somehow,
And the party begins right here and right now.

'57 Buick Model 49
