| To Mary Our
children you do guide and teach,
Their lofty goals you help them reach.
Your watchful guidance always there,
You treat the kids with loving care.
I love you oh so very much,
And know the power of your touch.
Mom
Mothers Day is once a year,
To honor someone very dear.
The days between are special too,
Especially with a mom like you.
Nana
Nana is a special mom,
Turning chaos into calm.
She is so wise and full of love,
Just like peaceful mother dove.
Moon Was Full
M oon was full, the discus near,
O lympic torch was finally here.
M ighty runner with a torch,

Mom's Memorial Service
November 21, 1996
It's nice to see all of Mom's friends and family here today. I know that
she is above smiling at us right now. I have been writing poems since
January. Mom liked my poems and in fact I consider her my biggest poetry
supporter. I would like to read a poem that I wrote for her Tuesday.
For Mom
Others always first to her,
She was suffering, that is sure.
The constant battle that she fought,
Too hard to win, she sometimes thought.
The wings of angels then took flight,
To help the girl that was right.
They took her to a better place,
She met with Jesus, face to face.
Mom is finally fully healed,
God to her is now revealed.
Her life was love to all she knew,
And heaven above is really true.
I'll be praying to you now Mom, and if I'm lucky I'll get there to see you
again someday.
Silicon Valley
Silicon Valley now is the name,
Forty years later it's sure not the same.
A valley of blossoms once was the spring,
Oh, what big changes the future did bring.
The blossoms now few and the chips now are many,
I used to see cherries but now can't find any.
Where is the fruitstand just up the street?
The farmer now gone, he couldn't compete.
Traffic congestion where orchards once stood,
And CEO's hoping that profits are good.
Computers and such, they are the fruit,
Apples now come with disks that you boot.
I am just one of the many that knows,
The valley will change as technology grows.
My house in the valley on unspoiled land,
Ancient Italianate standing so grand,
Has backyard with apple tree blossoming now,
And apples to eat are growing somehow.
Long Hard Day
Was back in the trench and laying so low,
Yes, once again got hit with a blow.
The only good choice was to turn and retreat,
Today not the day of victory so sweet.
A system I loathed in apparent control,
But deep down inside still strong was my soul.
"Never say die", my primary thought,
In spite of the fact that it still hurt a lot.
The worthiest goal still fully in sight,
And reason enough to continue the fight.
Thoughts such as these they weighed on my mind,
As I drifted asleep and began to unwind.
Tomorrow a chance to try once again,
With the help of the Lord I prayed I would win.
Why I Fly
Here I do sit as I'm writing this letter,
Hoping all of our days get a little bit better.
Sometimes when I'm blue and I look at the sky,
I think of the reasons I wanted to fly.
Maybe a chance to just get away,
Maybe the way I just like to pray.
Whatever the reason it's so clear to me,
Right here in my heart I want you to be.
Life At The Top
Life is lonely at the top,
That is where the buck will stop.
Those who thought they knew the game,
Find that they are put to shame.
People will flake out on you,
But the Lord will see you through.
Liars play a cheating game,
And one fine day are put to shame.
You must find that highest peak,
For it's the truth you really seek.
When at the top you stand alone,
And think it's like the "Twilight Zone",
Just be patient, you will see,
God will come and set you free.
My Little Virgin
Her eyes were closed, she was so sweet,
My little virgin, so discreet.
We both forgot a thing or two,
And knew we had a job to do.
The burning love, it couldn't wait,
Perhaps I was a little late,
A slip or two, "Oh , what the heck",
Her innocence they couldn't wreck.
I can't remember very much,
The in's and outs and such and such.
So few things I really knew,
Except inside my feelings grew.
Morning came eventually,
Oh, what a gift she gave to me.
For all my life I won't be free.
Locked in her heart I'm gonna be.
The Spiritual Plane
Many were on the spiritual plane,
They thought it far better than going insane.
Little plane off the ground and way up above,
Was flying so high by the grace of God's love.
Rising above the simplest minds,
Some down below of the lowliest kinds.
The drone of the engine continually there,
And the wings slicing through the fresh morning air.
With angels on board and fully in touch,
Nothing ahead was ever too much.
Hour by hour the day passing by,
And into the night the plane still would fly.
Hope was alive, still in the dark,
And never again would the days be so stark.
Her Glance
I turned around and caught her glance,
Oh, her eyes, they did a dance.
She showed it in her knowing eyes,
That she could see through all my lies.
I had to tell her how I felt,
The false illusions had to melt.
The thing I didn't really know,
Was how to let my feelings show.
All around me chaos reigned,
It seemed perhaps my courage waned.
I couldn't let her drift away,
And prayed to God for strength that day.
I finally drifted off to sleep,
And dreamt her glance was mine to keep.
She's Smiling Now :-)
My heart is rushing into spring,
And I can do most anything.
My little Sweetie seemed so sad,
And thought she'd been so very bad.
The fault was mine I really knew,
And now she seemed so very blue.
While I was busy doing stuff,
Everything for her got rough.
Now that my stuff is finally done,
Perhaps we'll go and have some fun.
The love we thought that crashed and burned,
Was really just a lesson learned.
The love we share, it didn't die,
She's smiling now, my Sweetie Pie. :-)
Tarzan Plays Follow The Leader
I tried to pretend that I didn't need her,
To hell with the game called "Follow The Leader".
I knew she was smart, but I had a brain,
And even knew when to get out of the rain.
My Tarzan physique was shaping up fine,
Getting around meant swinging a vine.
Life in the jungle, it wasn't so bad,
With figleaf secured, now I was clad.
Now out on the prowl, in search of a cat,
My lion eyes had the speed of a bat.
Suddenly something snapped in a flash,
Though not in my plans, there was a crash.
Some twinkling stars, Oh what a surprise,
And gazing into her beautiful eyes.
"Follow The Leader" my favorite game now,
She saved my ass and don't ask me how!
Finley Fish
Ficklest Finley was a fish,
Didn't really know which way to swish.
Goldie Girlfish swam on by,
Convincing Finley he could fly.
"Fishes flying in the air,
Why that's been tried everywhere."
Finley tried a time or two,
But his gills were turning blue.
Sally Silverfish saw the scene,
Thought Goldie fish was really mean.
Suddenly sickened, Sally sank,
Down to the bottom of the tank.
Finley dialed nine one one,
Doctor fish was on the run.
Goldie gleaming in delight,
Didn't care about Sally's plight.
Doctor fish bravely tried,
But couldn't help and Sally died.
Finley's stuck with Goldie now,
Still telling him to fly somehow.
One Niner Tango
Citabria sitting as fine as can be,
Brought back the memories of flying to me.
Amelia Reid still looping around,
All of her planes can still leave the ground.
One Niner Tango is ready to fly,
Pilot is waiting to be in the sky.
Immediate takeoff is finally cleared,
The weather today not bad as was feared.
Throttle wide open the plane starts to roll,
Leaving the ground is the ultimate goal.
A skip and a bounce and the plane's in the air,
Controls must be handled with delicate care.
Everything set for optimum climb,
Altitude gained in minimal time.
Things down below so seemingly small,
Way up above feels so tall.
Time to descend, destination is near,
Ground looming large, the airport is here.
Pulling the stick and into a glide,
Crosswind is blowing from the left side.
Correcting with slip, the runway aligned,
Touchdown is smooth, good pilot will find.
One Niner Tango is thirty years old,
Flys like it did the day it was sold.
